Noah's Ark Zoo Farm

Restaurant | Clevedon | England | United Kingdom

"Noah’s Ark Zoo Farm" in Clevedon, England, UK, is much more than just a restaurant – it is an integral part of a larger experience that includes a zoo and a working farm. The restaurant, known as the "Food Barn," is situated within this 40-acre site in the picturesque countryside of North Somerset, just a few miles west of Bristol. It is part of a facility dedicated to animal conservation, education, and fun for families, housing over 100 species of animals, including elephants, rhinoceroses, and giraffes. The "Food Barn" restaurant serves as a central gathering spot for visitors looking to enjoy a meal after a day of exploration, offering a mix of traditional British comfort food and convenient options for those on the go.

The atmosphere in the "Food Barn" is casual and family-friendly, featuring a rustic design that reflects the rural surroundings. Wooden tables and an open layout create an inviting environment with seating available both indoors and outdoors – the latter being particularly popular on sunny days when guests can enjoy the fresh air and views of the surrounding meadows. The restaurant is designed to cater to families, with ample space for strollers and proximity to the zoo's numerous play areas, including indoor soft play and outdoor adventure zones. It is a place that combines functionality with coziness, perfect for a break between animal watching and activities like exploring the longest hedge maze in Britain.

Culinary-wise, the "Food Barn" emphasizes fresh, seasonal ingredients often sourced locally, offering a selection of hearty and sweet dishes. A highlight is the "Roast Dinner," served with slow-cooked meat, crispy roast potatoes, and rich gravy – a dish that showcases British tradition and is especially popular on weekends. Also well-loved is the "Fish and Chips," featuring fresh fish in a light, crispy batter paired with thick, hand-cut chips, often accompanied by a side of mushy peas. For a quick snack, the "Breakfast Bap" is an option, a soft bun filled with bacon or sausage that serves as a satisfying choice both in the morning and later in the day. The homemade cakes, such as a moist "Carrot Cake" with creamy frosting, are a sweet treat freshly prepared by the zoo's chefs and are often seen as the perfect complement to a cup of coffee. Additionally, there are kiosks on-site during weekends and peak times offering light snacks like ice cream or hot drinks.

The drink selection is diverse, featuring both hot and cold options. The coffee, freshly brewed and sourced from local roasters, is a favorite among guests looking for a break, while the tea selection reflects British tea culture. For children and adults, there is a range of soft drinks, and seasonal specialties like hot chocolate with cream can be enjoyed at the kiosks. The restaurant also encourages guests to bring their own picnics, providing numerous picnic spots around the site – an option that is particularly popular with families looking to enjoy the day flexibly.

The story of "Noah’s Ark Zoo Farm" began in 1998 when Anthony and Christina Bush envisioned a place that combines education, conservation, and family fun. The restaurant itself was developed as part of this vision, offering visitors not just a place to eat but also a chance to refuel during their experience. Today, it is part of a charity committed to the conservation of endangered species and sustainable practices – a commitment that is also reflected in the kitchen, such as through the use of products from their own farm shop or local suppliers. The "Food Barn" also provides allergen-friendly options and considers special dietary needs, making it an inclusive place.

The staff is known for their friendliness and efficiency, which is especially appreciated on busy days when the café is frequented by walkers, families, and school groups. On such days, it can get busy, but the generous layout and additional kiosks ensure that waiting times remain manageable. "The Food Barn" at "Noah’s Ark Zoo Farm" is more than just a restaurant – it is a place that reflects the zoo’s values: community, sustainability, and joy. Whether one is looking for a warm meal after a stroll through the animal enclosures or simply wants to enjoy a coffee with a view of the landscape – this café offers a reliable and welcoming respite amid an unforgettable day.

Little bit pricier than expected, but worth it for the variety of animals! It’s a smaller place, which makes it easy to navigate, and super kid-friendly. Great spot for a family day out!

Absolutely amazing place and out visit was in stunning weather. Staff are welcoming, friendly and professional. The enclosures were beautiful and large with the animals in fantastic condition. The new cats area will be awesome to see. My favourite was the elephants and lions but I really enjoyed. I am disabled and did find that with a stick I did manage getting around and there are plenty of benches around in the park to take in the beauty of the park. Look forward to our next visit

A beautiful place to visit! Not far from the M5 but in a wonderful countryside spot with great views of Portishead from the tractor ride. Loads of animals to see with lovely big enclosures but still lots of viewing platforms to see them. The elephant enclosure is great! Lots to do as well as see the animals - tractor rides, soft play, lots of play areas, a maze, cafe, shop. My 4 year old twins really loved it here, as did we. And blue light card discount was a bonus. Already recommended to lots of friends, we'll be back.

Amazing day out! We visited during half term and thoroughly enjoyed our day. The enclosures are all great and you get such a good view of the animals. Nice layout making it easy to see every inch of the park. Staff were nice and engaging when spoken to. Young lady and lad in the food/drink shack by the lions and bears were wonderful - my son dropped his hot chocolate and they replaced it for him for free! My children’s favourite part was the animal petting area.

We attended the Rhino and Giraffe experience, we had a lovely women and guy keeper, carry out the experience (I feel awful for not remembering their names but we were so engrossed in the animals). what an incredible and great experience we had! We genuinely couldn't have asked for a better way to spend my partners 30th birthday, the knowledge of both of the keepers was exceptional. Both of them we're so professional and friendly, kept us engaged the entire time. All the animals all played ball and seemed very happy and engaged. We thought the layout and design of the zoo was so much more interactive and open than others we have been too. You could really get full sight of the animals and we were blown away with the elephant facility. highly recommend anyone spending the extra money to do the experience it is well worth the money. Incredible
